Porcupine Reservoir

Last Saturday we went to Porcupine Reservoir, about 30 minutes south of Logan. After some canoeing and watching cliff jumpers I had some time to take pictures.

This was the view from our spot on the sand. I was trying out a new lens that I got recently.

This is a little trail above the shore. I love the color here.

Angelina was nice enough to keep me company. I even convinced her to be in a few pictures.

Railroad

Ember wanted some pictures taken so we went to a park by a golf course in Southern Logan. Mosquitoes were everywhere and we had to hurry since the sun was going to set soon, but the pictures turned out quite nice anyway.

I like this one a lot because of the perspective achieved with the log - "leading lines" as they call it.

This was one of my favorites from the night. I like the texture in the rocks and the rail that seems to frame the picture on the left. It was hard to get above her like this without getting my leg or anything in the picture. Too bad I didn't have a ladder with me or something.

I feel bad making people wait for me, but sometimes I'll see a scene along the way that I just can't pass up. Here I tried to use a slower shutter speed to make the water smoother and the image more abstract.

River Trail

Last Saturday I walked along the river trail at second dam in Logan Canyon.

Pretty green, right? I guess that's what happens when it rains almost every day straight for a month. It made a great backdrop for portraits. Lucky for me, Mandy was tagging along and agreed to be in some pictures.

I promise she is not photoshopped in here. I guess the light was so diffused through the trees that she just has no shadow.

Off the trail a little bit...

And closer up...

Best Friends

My sister has been bugging me about doing some more glamor shots, so since I was home for the weekend we set off to the mountains just off Wasatch Boulevard.

I really like how the perspective and surroundings turned out on this one. I think it would make a great engagement picture. Maybe it can work for "best sisters," too.

And yes, I broke my own rule and posted more than one picture this week.

A Bit of an Abstract

I had fun with this one. I love being able to throw backgrounds out of focus, the green almost seems to glow. Any guesses on what this is?

Loch Ness Monster

I'll kick it off with a recent photo from First Dam, a park at the mouth of Logan canyon.

While everyone else was feeding ducks or fishing I decided to go explore the other side of the lake. I walked along the shore for a while and stumbled upon this log. For some reason it reminded me of the loch ness monster.

Mostly I just liked the shape of the log itself and the texture of the water flowing around it. It was pretty late in the day so the lighting was really nice. This ended up being one of my favorites.

New Project

So I decided to jump on the bandwagon and start a blog. Since I wasn't sure what to write about, I thought I'd include my photography. I'm going to post at least one new picture each week with a description. I'll try to be creative and have fun with this.
